Friends of Romania

Friends of Romania is a non-profit organization that supports community projects in Romania, promotes cross-cultural awareness, and provides a social network for Returned Peace Corps Volunteers and others interested in Romania.

Chris Fontanesi
President

Chris Fontanesi is an Administrative Specialist at Peace Corps and is currently pursuing a J.D. at American University. Chris served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Beius and Bucharest, Romania from 2007- 2011, working with Habitat for Humanity Romania in providing housing solutions for Romania's poor.

Gretchen Nye
Secretariat

Gretchen Nye is a graduate student at the George Washington University where she also works as a research assistant.  She served as a TEFL volunteer in Negresti Oas from 2009-2011 and also worked as a facilitator and organizer for several GLOW camps during her service.

Tyler Green
Resource Development

Tyler is an Accounting Assistant at the International Monetary Fund and is currently pursuing his Masters in International Commerce and Policy at George Mason University. Tyler served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Victoria, Romania from 2008- 2010.

Doug Knight
Vice-President

Douglas Knight is a Placement Associate at Peace Corps. Doug served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cluj-Napoca Romania from 2007- 2011, founding the WWOOF Romania network and the NGO Eco Ruralis to support Romania's small scale farmers.

Jake Kirchmer
Treasurer

Jake Kirchmer is an Economist at the Bureau of Labor Statistics. A graduate from the University of Colorado Boulder, Jake served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Beius, Romania and was partnered with Habitat for Humanity Romania.

Brad Ludlow
Resource Development

Brad Ludlow graduated from Rutgers University in 2006,  He worked in New York City and Shanghai before he came to be a Peace Corps Volunteer in Bacau, Romania from 2010-2012.  He currently resides in Washington D.C.
